William Blake was born in London on November 28th 1757. His father a hosier could only afford for William to learn the basics of reading and writing. William practiced his artistic ability in his father's shop. At the age of 14 he engraved by the age of 21 he had finished his apprenticeship and set out to make a living as an engraver. Blake then married Catherine Boucher at the age of 25. Catherine had helped blake with many of his creations and helped him publish a book of Blake's poems known as the "Songs of Innocence". In a dream Blake saw engraving in copper plates which he then took up as one of his abilities. Even though Blake had a great artistic ability he lived in poverty most of his life. Later on Blake was accused of cursing the king by a drunken soldier. This then brought Blake to trial for treason which all charges were later cleared. Blake put him self into his work and when the public showed no recognition he then fell into depression which lasted for seven years. By then all of his close friends thought he was insane. Most of his work was more then inches in height but were very exact. William Blake died on August 12th 1827. After his death the public started to appreciate his work.
